Can’t-Centrate by Yaaseen Barnes

Can’t-Centrate is a collection of ideas, thoughts and jokes from the busy mind of multi-award-winning comedian Yaaseen Barnes. In a time where we are blasted with new information every moment of every day, focusing on the essentials is difficult, adding ADHD to the mix is a recipe for comedic mayhem. The world is burning, all we can do is laugh.

Capetonian one–liner comedian, Yaaseen Barnes, first made a splash as the winner of the Joker’s Comedy Championship in 2013.

2014 saw Barnes taking the coveted title of GoodHope FM’s Laugh Master, and subsequently performing at the Jive Funny Festival alongside the likes of Trevor Noah, Marc Lottering and Nik Rabinowitz.

In the same year he was also nominated for the Comic’s Choice Savannah Newcomer of the Year. Perhaps his best–known performance was on Comedy Central, alongside SA favourites like Casper de Vries and Deep Fried Man, in “Comedy Central Presents Divine”.

2015, after stellar performances in Grahamstown with The Cape Town Comedy Club, where he also opened for Martin Evans, Barnes was nominated again for Newcomer of The Year in the Savannah Comics Choice Awards and won!

He then went on to write a material for Stuart Taylor’s ” 2015 in Revue”, open for Riaad Moosa on the Best of Tour and perform at the Comedy Central International Festival.
